Journal Media (The Journal, The 42, Noteworthy) is looking for an experienced Business Development Account Director.

Job Summary

Driving sales for a portfolio of clients. Growing and developing key relationships, undertaking account management responsibilities while working alongside the Commercial Director to develop an overall strategy and approach to growing direct client revenue.

Core Responsibilities

  • Management of your portfolio of clients.
  • Developing solid sales strategies to meet client needs.
  • Weekly reporting on sales performance and strategy.
  • Effective management of sales pipeline.
  • Having a solid understanding of the brief cycle and the ability to effectively communicate to relevant teams.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships at a senior level.
  • Work with Creative, Programmatic, Design and Ad Ops teams in developing comprehensive and innovative campaign solutions.


  • Excellent planning skills.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate and liaise with internal stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the media landscape.
  • Enthusiasm for selling and a passion for solving client’s needs along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to leverage contacts and client relationships with clear strategic goals in mind.
  • Ability to work well under time pressure and to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and a drive for perfection in briefs, presentations and written communications.
  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to fully manage client and agency account data using internal tools and processes.
