Commercial Creative Editor

We are seeking a creative, talented and motivated candidate to head up a market-leading content team as Commercial Creative Editor, a role that combines editorial expertise with an understanding of the broader commercial environment.

You’ll be tasked with designing original content campaigns across Journal Media’s full suite of publications and formats; and then bringing these campaigns to life through the full production cycle. You’ll lead a team that is widely recognised as among the best in the marketplace.

Role overview

The CCE role reports to the Commercial Director.

The key function is to lead the creative team in the design, communication and delivery of content marketing campaigns which deliver on client objectives - while also serving existing Journal Media audiences.

The key objective of this role is to drive advertising revenue for Journal Media by creating content.

The right candidate will be a talented journalist with leadership experience and a deep understanding of the content marketplace, including branded content in all its forms. S/he will lead designated major projects, and be a contact point across teams. S/he will have:

  • The vision to marry client requirements with audience needs
  • The communication and organisational skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors, ensuring that campaigns are delivered to the highest standards
  • The leadership skills to be a manager and mentor, delivering feedback and building team capabilities

Key responsibilities

This role will work across our product portfolio to oversee the design and delivery of content campaigns. The primary phases of campaign production are:

  • Ideation: Designing original content campaigns which
    • engage and delight our users
    • deliver on the needs of commercial clients
    • are a native fit with the tone and style of Journal Media publications
  • Communication: Crafting brief responses and pitches to commercial clients which explain in clear and compelling ways why our proposals match both client and audience needs.
  • Production: Delivering great content that brings these ideas to life. This will include
    • reporting, writing, commissioning and editing written content
    • designing and managing production of video and other visual content, alongside external contractors
    • project managing campaigns which include multiple formats and contributors

This role is the operational leader of the creative team: assigning tasks, managing workflow and internally signing off content as well as owning internal and external collaborations. The primary organisational responsibilities are:

  • Empowering the creative team and building capabilities through active management, feedback and mentoring
  • Collaborating with editorial and product leads to
    • Be the key liaison point on content between commercial and editorial teams
    • Ensure alignment of commercial with editorial products
    • Deliver collaborative campaigns where appropriate
  • Working with the Commercial Director to contribute to the development of overall commercial strategy

In this role you will be empowered to make decisions and set direction. The role is a hybrid one with the freedom to move between home and our offices in central Dublin as the work requires.
