About the job

  • Taking ownership of the Android platform.
  • Developing new features for and maintaining our existing Android mobile applications for TheJournal.ie and The42.
  • Collaborating closely with our web development team and designer team to produce a consistent experience across platforms.
  • Collaborating with our commercial and editorial teams to develop user-focused features.

About you

  • You have a degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field or enough experience.
  • You are highly proficient in Java.
  • You have interest or knowledge in Kotlin.
  • You've been developing apps for Android for at least 3 years.
  • You have published and can show some personal projects in the Google Play store.
  • You always strive to ensure a codebase is clean, scalable and secure.
  • You write automated tests as part of your development process.
  • You are an advocate for best practices within a team.
  • You can communicate technical decisions outside of the code through commit messages, pull requests and documentation.
  • You keep up-to-date with new technologies and techniques in software and mobile development.
