Noteworthy, the award-winning investigative journalism platform from The Journal, is seeking to hire an investigative reporter based in Ireland to join our team.
We’re looking for a reporter with an interest in investigative journalism, experience of social media in a professional setting, excellent writing skills and an ability to work independently to a deadline.
This is a full-time position with an initial one year contract. Noteworthy offers a supportive and flexible working environment.
THE ROLE WILL ENTAIL
- Researching and writing investigative articles
- Coordinating social media planning and output for Noteworthy
- Writing and editing our Insider Newsletter
- Researching and writing proposed investigations to put out for crowdfunding
- Working with the Noteworthy team to build public awareness and engagement of our brand
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO
- Communicate with excellent and accessible writing skills
- Build connections and work with sources
- Research complex topics and understand data
- Use social media as a tool for promotion and distribution
- Be a self-starter who can work well with the Noteworthy team
- Have effective time management and organisational skills to work independently
- Aid other reporters on investigations at crucial stages, such as in the run up to publication
SKILLS REQUIRED
- At least three years’ experience in a journalism role
- Interest in investigative and data journalism
- Experience in reading and analysing company accounts
- Proven ability to research and deliver on articles, including longform features
- Proven ability to use social media in a professional setting, including design of graphics for use online
- Knowledge and experience of Ireland’s legal framework around defamation, publishing and copyright
